"Stargazing" |
Many of you know my style of painting as colorful, expressionistic, sometimes abstract and symbolic in nature and have purchased pieces that you love... anyway. My deepest thanks for your appreciation of the images I portray on canvas, or other mediums. I hope they serve as an inspiration to you wherever you hang them or place them in your lives. I am an eclectic artist trained at Hiram College, in Ohio (President Garfield’s College) and Christian Theological Seminary, located here in Indianapolis, Indiana. I performed my duties as one of Dr. Alfred Edyvean’s Student Assistants in theatre, TV and Radio productions at The CTS/Edyvean Repertory Theater when it existed. Steeped in classic artists, especially religious oriented works, I paint a variety of subjects in my own style trying to reach out to others with messages of hope, truth and love. As a retired clinician/therapist/ordained minister/published author and professional actor, painting is a great way to express my feelings, emotions, thoughts and ideas! It’s great personal therapy to paint what I see, conceive and imagine. I’ve written a children’s book and hope to have it illustrated and published within the next year with the help of another local artist. (In the 1990’s, Mark taught the art of speech and other communications skills on the graduate level at Emory Univ. in Atlanta; 10 yrs. of licensed high school teaching; assisted professors in classes at Herron School of Art (IUPUI) in 2005-7; and has taught Method Acting for film and theatre at the Indianapolis Art Center as Special Communications Instructor.) |
